Epoxy Resin Wall Clocks

Our epoxy resin wall clocks are made from solid timber cast with pigmented resin. The resin fills a void — a natural crack, a cut channel, or the space between two pieces of wood — and cures to a glass-hard surface that is then ground flat and polished with the timber around it.

How Our Epoxy Resin Wall Clocks Are Made

1. The timber is selected and prepared. Oak and maple mostly, chosen for figure rather than for being flawless — a clean board makes a dull resin piece, because there is nothing for the resin to do.
2. A mould is built around it and sealed, since epoxy finds every gap it is given.
3. The resin is mixed with pigment and poured. Deep pours go in stages: too much at once generates heat as it cures and can crack or cloud.
4. It cures for days at a stable temperature. This step cannot be rushed and is why these clocks take longer to produce than anything else we make.
5. The face is ground back and polished through progressive grits until wood and resin sit in one plane.
6. The movement is fitted and the hands matched to the finished colour.

Colours and Effects

Depth affects the colour of an epoxy wall clock. A translucent pigment reads pale where the pour is shallow and saturated where it is deep, so a single casting varies across its own width — one of the reasons no two pieces match exactly.

Epoxy Wall Clocks With Moss

Some epoxy resin wall clocks in this collection combine resin with preserved moss: greenery set into one section of the face, resin into another, with the timber holding both.

The contrast is the point. Epoxy is the most artificial-looking material we work with — glass-smooth, uniform, machine-precise — and preserved plants are the most organic. Putting them in one object makes each read more strongly than it would alone.

Not every epoxy resin wall clock here includes greenery, and the product photographs show which do. If a natural element matters to you, check before ordering — this is the one collection where some pieces are purely wood and resin.

The Silent Movement

Every resin wall clock uses silent sweep quartz and one AA battery, about a year of running. No tick.

Hand colour is chosen against the finished face. On a dark resin clock, pale hands; on pale maple with clear resin, dark ones. It sounds obvious and is regularly got wrong on mass-produced clocks, where the same hands go on every colourway.

Living With Resin

An epoxy resin wall clock is durable and stable indoors. It does not absorb moisture, does not move with humidity the way timber does, and needs no maintenance.

Its one weakness is ultraviolet light. Over years of direct sunlight, epoxy ambers — clear resin picks up a yellow cast, and pale pigments shift warmer. Quality resin resists this far better than cheap resin, but no epoxy is immune. Keep these clocks off walls that take hours of hard sun and the problem never arises.

The surface is hard but scratchable. Do not clean it with anything abrasive; a soft dry cloth is enough, and a slightly damp one for marks, avoiding any planted section.

Where They Suit Best

• Modern living rooms — the glossy surface suits interiors with other reflective materials.
• Offices and studios — reads as a designed object rather than as decoration.
• Rooms that need one strong piece — a resin clock holds a wall on its own.
• As a gift — the making process interests people, which makes it an easy thing to give and explain.

Less suited to: sunny walls, rustic interiors where the gloss fights everything else, and anywhere the clock is mainly functional — these are objects first.
