Geometric Planter Design and Preserved Botanicals
This concrete hexagon vase with reindeer moss combines industrial cast stone with natural preserved greenery. The vessel is cast from high-density concrete, yielding sharp geometric lines and a low center of gravity that prevents tipping on flat surfaces. Nestled into the hexagonal cavity is sustainably harvested reindeer moss (Iceland moss). The pale, textured finish of the raw concrete creates a balanced tactile contrast against the dense, soft mounds of preserved lichen.
Preservation occurs through an environmentally conscious glycerin bath rather than dehydration. During processing, natural plant moisture is displaced by a stabilizing mineral solution, permanently halting biological decomposition. As a result, the lichen retains its structural flexibility and coloration indefinitely. It does not grow, dry out, or shed spores under specified indoor parameters.
Physical Specifications and Structural Composition
Each planter is molded with thick concrete walls to ensure high compressive strength and durability. To protect delicate furniture surfaces, a cork pad is permanently bonded to the underside of the hex base. This barrier prevents scratches, scuffs, and friction marks on finished wood, polished stone, or glass tabletops.

Because every concrete vessel cures individually, microscopic surface voids and slight mineral variations naturally occur across each production run. These minor variations are inherent to unsealed cementitious compounds and confirm authentic casting methods.
Environmental Parameters and Maintenance Requirements
Preserved botanicals function strictly as indoor architectural decor. The lichen requires zero irrigation, soil, misting, or fertilizer. Water application dissolves the mineral preservation salts, leading to discoloration and textural hardening. Keep the planters within standard residential or commercial climate conditions to preserve product longevity.
- Ambient Humidity: Maintain ambient relative humidity between 40% and 60%. If humidity drops below 40%, the moss can temporarily firm up; it recovers natural suppleness once baseline humidity returns.
- Solar Exposure: Position away from direct, unfiltered sunlight. Continuous ultraviolet exposure degrades organic pigments over extended timeframes.
- Thermal Distance: Keep units at least 1 meter (3.3 feet) away from active heat radiators, air conditioners, and forced-air vents.
- Cleaning Protocol: Remove occasional surface dust using a dry, soft-bristle brush or a low-pressure cool air blower. Never wipe with damp cloths.
