Preserved Reindeer Moss with Integrated Perimeter Illumination

This Moss Wall Art with Reindeer Moss and LED Lighting pairs preserved botanical lichen with concealed perimeter light diodes. Real reindeer moss (Iceland Moss) is mounted across a rigid backing plate within a solid timber frame. The LED perimeter lighting is installed along the interior border, projecting light directly across the textured surface to highlight the organic branching structure and dimensional relief.

Natural preservation replaces the plant sap with a non-hazardous, hygroscopic solution. The moss remains soft to the touch and retains its green pigmentation without sunlight, soil, or misting. Three distinct color temperatures adapt to interior lighting plans: Warm White at 3000K, Neutral White at 4000K, or Cool White at 6000K.

Acoustic Damping and Maintenance-Free Construction

Preserved lichen structures function as passive sound dampeners in interior environments. The porous, cellular density of reindeer moss captures reverberating sound waves, lowering flutter echo and ambient noise levels across offices, hallways, and open living spaces. The artwork does not require irrigation, trimming, or soil management.

Preserved moss adapts to typical indoor relative humidity between 40% and 70%. Avoid placing the panel in direct sunlight or within 3 feet (1 meter) of heat vents, as concentrated heat can dry the lichen fibers prematurely.

  • Transit unpacking: Lichen heads can compress during freight transport; gently groom the tufts by hand to recover full surface volume.
  • Mounting hardware: Use load-bearing wall anchors suited to your interior wall material.
  • Maintenance requirements: No watering, misting, or plant feeding required. Remove surface dust with a soft, dry duster.
