Preserved Moss Wall Art Family Tree Specifications

The Moss Wall Art Family Tree integrates preserved reindeer moss (Iceland moss) with precision-cut spruce wood. Depicting two branching trees that arch over silhouettes of parents holding hands with their child, this circular composition balances natural greenery with architectural negative space. Each piece serves as biophilic wall decor that requires zero watering, soil, or sunlight exposure.

Natural preservation replaces the sap of the reindeer moss with a non-toxic glycerin-based saline solution. This process preserves the soft, spongy texture of the lichen over a lifespan of 5 to 10 years without decomposition or drying out. Because preservation stabilizes the cellular structure, the moss does not release spores, shed, or produce pollen.

Dimensional Options and Finish Variations

Available sizes span six distinct diameters to accommodate varied residential layouts. From compact accent dimensions of 19.6 in (50 cm) to large statement pieces measuring 39.3 in (100 cm), each variant maintains structural balance across the wooden silhouette cutout.

Material Composition and Structural Properties

The backing panel uses precision-routed spruce wood finished in matte tone options that resist indoor warping. Two shades of preserved reindeer moss—light spring green and forest green—are hand-affixed across the upper canopy zones to provide visual depth. The openwork silhouette allows the wall color behind the frame to contrast with the family figures.

Acoustic dampening is an inherent functional property of the dense lichen structure. The porous cellular volume absorbs high-frequency sound reflections, helping quiet rooms with hard surfaces like ceramic tile or hardwood floors.

Base structure: Solid laser-cut spruce wood frame with an integrated rear hanging mount.
Botanical element: 100% naturally preserved reindeer moss (Iceland moss) dyed with organic mineral pigments.
Humidity range: Ambient indoor room humidity between 40% and 60% maintains maximum foliage softness.
Sunlight tolerance: Strictly for interior display; avoid direct UV sunlight and radiant heat sources.
Care requirements: Zero watering, misting, trimming, or fertilizing required.
Shipping terms: Free shipping within 10–30 business days included on all orders.

Installation and Indoor Care Guidelines

Mounting the frame requires standard wall fasteners rated for lightweight to medium-weight timber decor. The artwork arrives fully assembled, with the preserved lichen permanently secured to the wooden canopy sections. Place the display away from air conditioning vents, heating ducts, and fireplaces to prevent premature desiccation.

If indoor air drops below 40% relative humidity during seasonal heating cycles, the moss can temporarily feel dry to the touch. It naturally regains elasticity once ambient moisture levels return to standard indoor ranges. Never apply water or cleaning solutions directly to the preserved lichen.
