Handcrafted Yin-Yang Design with Preserved Moss and Glass
The Moss Mirror Yin-Yang with Reindeer Moss and Ball Moss combines reflective crystal glass with textured natural greenery. Designed around the classical symbol of balance, half of the circular profile features high-clarity mirror glass while the opposing curve contains preserved reindeer moss (Iceland Moss). Two contrasting circular accents complete the emblem: a raised dome of ball moss (Cushion Moss or Pole Moss) nestled inside the lichen field, and an identical moss accent mounted directly onto the mirror pane.
This configuration creates physical depth through contrasting textures. The flat, polished glass reflects daylight and interior fixtures, enhancing brightness across the surrounding area. Beside it, the dense, spongy moss clusters absorb ambient sound waves, dampening echoes in rooms with hard surface floors. Solid wood framing encircles the piece, securing the mirrored pane and the preserved botanicals within a rigid, flush border.
Technical Specifications and Frame Configurations
Each unit is assembled by hand to exact diameter specifications. The frame is constructed from treated wood and finished in multiple neutral finishes to match specific millwork, cabinetry, or trim. Available frame finishes include Natural Wood, Wooden Black, Wooden Dark Brown, and Wooden White.

Preservation Science and Care Requirements
The botanical elements undergo an organic preservation treatment replacing natural sap with a biodegradable, non-toxic glycerin solution. This preservation stops all biological degradation, locking in the natural flexibility and deep pigmentation of the moss indefinitely. Because the biological cycle has ceased, the moss requires no sunlight, no misting, and no soil. It does not attract dust mites, insects, or mold spores.
To ensure structural integrity and retain tactile softness across a 7 to 10-year lifespan, indoor humidity should remain between 40% and 60%, with ambient temperatures maintained below 77°F (25°C). Avoid positioning the frame in direct southern or western sunlight to prevent premature pigment fading. Clean the glass section using a lint-free microfiber cloth misted with standard glass cleaner, taking care not to wet the adjacent moss boundary.
During transit, atmospheric compression can slightly flatten the spherical ball moss domes. If this occurs, brush the fibers lightly against the direction of compaction with fingertips or a soft cosmetic brush to restore full volumetric curvature.
