Round Moss Wall Art with Reindeer Moss and Plants

Round Moss Wall Art with Reindeer Moss and Plants

The Round Moss Wall Art with Reindeer Moss and Plants integrates preserved natural botanicals into a circular wall installation. Built upon a sturdy circular base, this piece combines preserved reindeer moss (Iceland moss) with mixed foliage accents. A rich bed of textured moss provides the backdrop for trailing magenta amaranth stems, clustered deep-green hydrangea florets, and structured sprigs of preserved greenery. Each element is arranged to create a multi-dimensional topography that stands out from standard flat wall decor.

Preserved botanicals offer natural sound-dampening qualities. The porous, cellular structure of the reindeer moss scatters high-frequency ambient noise, which lowers reverberation in open-plan spaces, executive offices, and residential living rooms. Because the biological fluids in the plants have been replaced with a non-toxic preservation solution, the installation retains its tactile softness and deep color saturation without requiring soil, regular watering, or drainage infrastructure.

Botanical Preservation and Structural Design

The preservation technique halts biological decay while sustaining the cellular flexibility of every stem and frond. The reindeer moss and accent plants do not photosynthesize, which means the installation requires zero exposure to natural sunlight. You can hang this piece in windowless hallways, subterranean conference rooms, or shaded reception areas where living plants cannot survive. The round outer frame holds the composition securely, preventing edge fraying and ensuring structural rigidity over years of display.

Handcrafting guarantees precise placement of both heavy foliage clusters and delicate trailing elements. The magenta amaranth creates vertical movement across the circular boundary, contrasting against the muted and mid-green tones of the moss backdrop. The entire unit arrives ready to install, equipped with heavy-duty mounting hardware secured to the reverse side of the wooden frame.

Technical Specifications and Indoor Care

Preserved moss installations function strictly as indoor design features. To maintain optimal suppleness, maintain ambient relative humidity between 40% and 60%. If humidity drops below 30%, the lichen can become slightly brittle to the touch; it regains its natural springiness once room humidity normalizes. Never spray water directly onto the moss, as moisture dissolves the preservation salts and degrades the dye.

Position the piece away from direct, unfiltered sunlight to prevent ultraviolet fading over extended periods. Maintain a minimum clearance of 5 feet (1.5 m) from active heat sources, such as forced-air vents, radiators, and fireplaces, to prevent premature drying of the plant tissues. Periodic surface dusting with a compressed-air canister on low pressure or a soft microfiber duster keeps the foliage clean.
